City Council Standing Subcommittees <br />February 4, 2025 <br />Page 2 <br />4 <br />8 <br />2 <br />1 <br />Joint School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee <br />The Joint School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee was established <br />April 19, 2022 via Resolution No. 2022-028 between the City of Santa Ana and the Santa <br />Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) with the purpose to discuss issues of mutual interest <br />between the City and SAUSD focusing on youth services and including, but not limited <br />to, joint use of SAUSD and City facilities, library facilities, educational programs, and other <br />topics related thereto. <br />The Joint School Collaboration Subcommittee last held a meeting on December 2, 2024, <br />with the following history of meetings: in 2024, six meetings were held and five were <br />cancelled; in 2023, three meetings were held and eight were cancelled; and in 2022, four <br />meetings were held and two were cancelled. Current members are Mayor Pro Tem <br />Vazquez and Councilmembers Hernandez and Lopez. <br />Legislative City Council Standing Subcommittee <br />The Legislative City Council Subcommittee was established on December 21, 2021 via <br />Resolution No. 2021-089 with the purpose to discuss the following topics: provide <br />guidance and direction to help facilitate the City’s legislative affairs efforts, make <br />recommendations to the City Council relating to setting legislative priorities and directing <br />legislative advocacy, making policy recommendations relating to how the City may <br />respond to legislative actions that may affect the City, provide guidance to City staff on <br />legislative activities; and any other topics related thereto. <br />The Legislative Subcommittee last met on September 26, 2023, with the following history <br />of meetings: in 2024, no meetings were held; in 2023, one meeting was held and one was <br />cancelled; and in 2022, two meetings were held. Current members are Mayor Amezcua <br />and Councilmembers Lopez and Penaloza. <br />Public Safety and Homelessness City Council Standing Subcommittee <br />The Public Safety and Homelessness City Council Standing Subcommittee was <br />established December 21, 2021 via Resolution No. 2021-089 with the purpose to discuss <br />the following topics: public safety services (police and fire); homelessness; homeless <br />services; how to provide relief to residents, business owners, and other community <br />members relating to homelessness; impacts of homelessness on the quality of life of <br />community members; the effects of homelessness on public safety; and any other topics <br />related thereto. <br />The Public Safety and Homelessness Subcommittee has only held one meeting, on May <br />10, 2022, since its establishment. No meetings were held in 2023 or 2024. Current <br />members are Mayor Amezcua and Councilmembers Bacerra and Hernandez. <br />With very few meetings held of either the Legislative and Public Safety and <br />Homelessness Subcommittees and with these topics being covered by staff and City <br />Council as a whole, staff recommends adoption of the proposed resolution to disband the
