CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> SPECIFICATIONS <br /> PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br /> TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br /> AVENUE <br /> Emulsion-Aggregate Slurry(Type II-CSS-lh-EAS) <br /> 1. Materials - Shall conform to the requirements of Sub-Section "302-4 SLURRY <br /> SEAL SURFACING" and "203.5.4 Emulsion-Aggregate Slurry (EAS)" of the <br /> Standard Specifications except Sub-Section "203-5.4.2-.2 Emulsified Asphalt" <br /> shall be amended so that the asphaltic emulsion shall conform to the requirements <br /> for cationic emulsion grade CSS-lh(slow setting) or approved equal. The type of <br /> emulsion to be used shall be as indicated in these special provisions unless <br /> determined otherwise by the Engineer prior to slurry applications. <br /> 2. Sub-Section "302-4.5 Scheduling, Public Convenience and Traffic Control" shall <br /> be the same except for the following additions: Spreading - The application of <br /> slurry shall be scheduled to commence after 8:00 a.m., and no slurry operations <br /> shall be done after 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. Slurry <br /> shall be sufficiently cured for vehicle traffic without tracking or damage to the <br /> surface by 3:00 p.m. on the same day. In case of damage done by vehicles and/or <br /> pedestrians upon slurry that has not been sufficiently cured by 3:00 p.m., the <br /> Contractor shall replace all of the damaged work at the Contractor's expense and <br /> no additional compensation shall be made by the City. Final striping shall be <br /> installed no more than ten(10)working days after placement of slurry. <br /> 3. Sub-Section "302-4.6.4 Aggregate Application Rate" and "Table 302-4.6.4.1(A)" <br /> shall be replaced with the following: Slurry Seal (Type II) shall be applied over <br /> asphalt rubber chip seal at a rate of 1,000 square feet per extra long ton(ELT). <br /> Type II slurry shall be applied between 48 hours and 7 days after the cover aggregate is <br /> placed. <br /> Slurry seal (Type II)shall be applied on the arterials at a rate of 1,350 square feet per extra <br /> long ton(ELT). <br /> Rubberized Emulsion Aggregate Slurry(REAS), Type II <br /> This section shall conform to Sections 203-5 and 302-4 of the Standard Specifications and <br /> these Special Provisions. <br /> Section 302-4.7 entitled"Rubberized Emulsion Aggregate Slurry(REAS)"of the Standard <br /> Specifications shall be modified to delete the text in Section 302-4.7.2 and replace with the <br /> following: <br /> PEAS shall be mixed at a central plant conforming to 203-5.5.3. <br /> Section 302-4.8 entitled"Spreading and Application"of the Standard Specifications shall <br /> be modified to add the following: <br /> The Contractor shall remove all raised pavement markers and all striping in the <br /> Work area per Section 2.02, Striping (Traffic Stripes and Pavement Markings), of <br /> 30 <br />
