<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />written recommendation of the Manager, dated April 26th, 1955, setting!
<br />forth salary step increases for seven emp]~oyees, effective May 1st,
<br />1955, was received, filed and approved.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br /> request of Eddie Baum for removal of 18~ of curbing at his place of
<br /> business, llll E. 1st Street, which would provide for parking of two
<br /> cars, was referred to the curb usage committee for report at the next
<br /> meeting.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />communication from Robert L, Schaller, President, Marotta Valve Corpo-
<br />ration, on behalf of Patrick and Anna Marotta, requesting that the City
<br />remove the high crown in the road and construct a heavier tMpe pave-
<br />ment in front of property at 2215 South Standard Avenue before the
<br />Corporation completes its construction, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />informal notice of Attorney Lester Van Tatenhove, on behalf of Luisa
<br />Ortiz, for injuries sustained on April 19th, 1955, resulting from a
<br />defective condition in the sidewalk in front of 2016 South Main Street,
<br />was referred to the Insurance Carrier and the City Attorney.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br />application of Kenneth Q. Stoops to drive taxicabs, was received, filed
<br />and granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Heinly and carried, the
<br />request of T. Powell Sharp that a "No parking" sign be placed in front
<br />of hie residence at 1622 South Sycamore Street, was referred to the
<br />curb usage committee for report at the next meeting.

<br />On motion of Councilman Marl~el, seconded by Heinly and carried, the
<br />notification of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage
<br />application of M~rvin E. Miller and Max F. Schurk, $15 West Fourth
<br />
<br />Street, was received and filed.

<br />request of Sister Elizabeth Kenny Foundation of Southern California, In~. ,
<br />for permission to solicit funds during the month of May, 1955, was
<br />denied until such t. ime as the organization has cleared With the Orange

<br />County Council of Community Agencies.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Heinly and carried, the
<br />request of the General Chairman of the Fullerton Lions Club for per-
<br />mission to sell tickets for the Sixth Annual Community Fair, and park
<br />an aut.cmobile at Fourth and Main Streets, on May 5th, 1955, from about
<br />
<br />2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., was denied, with regrets.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Heinly and carried, the
<br />report on Water System, April, 1955, submitted by James M. Montgomery,
<br />was received and filed.

<br />officials were authorized to execute Agreement dated April 26th, 1955,
<br />allowing lands owned by Everett Rodney Engel and Rodger Roy Engel, lo-
<br />cated north of Roe Drive and lying both on the easterly and westerly
