Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall August l, 1955. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to order by .the Mayor. Present: Absent: Councilmen Councilmen Dale H. Heinly, J. Ogden Markel, William Jerome, Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler None Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of July 18$h, 1955, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Councilman Heinly, sBconded by Markel and carried. In Re Presentation Special plaque citation for pedestrian traffic safety during 195~ In Re Hearing "Fregway Annex" Ordinance declaring iAnnexation Mr. Joseph E. Havenner, Manager of the Safety Department of the Auto- mobile Club of Southern California officially presented a special plaque citation for pedestrian traffic safety during 1954. The plaque was accepted with thanks by the Mayor on behalf of the City. This being the'date set for hearing protests on annexation to the City of certain uninhabited territory designated "Freeway Annex" and there being no protests, on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: "Ordinance declaring the annexation of that certain territory designated 'Freeway Annex~" In Re Budget Appropriation Ordinance. No. NS-119 Year 1955-56 was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. . This being the date set for hearing protests on the 1955-56 Budget~aud there being no p~ot~sts, it was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heinly and carried,that the reading of the Appropriation Ordinance, as corrected, be waived and the Ordinance entitled: In Re Hearing Amend. Section 9107.10 Subdivision (b) of Municipal Code (insurance brokers otc) Ordinance "An Ordinance adopting the annual B~dge~ for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1955 and fixing the limitations of expenditures for the several funds and the funCtions,Departments and activities carried on under such funds" as an emergenqy Ordinance, was designated Ordinance No. NS-ll9 and adopted_/by the following vgte: Ayes, CounCilmen Noes, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen This being the Dale H. Chandler None None date set for hearing protests relative to amending the Official Land-Use Districting Plan by amending Section 9107.10, Subdiv- ision (b) of the Municipal Code to include "insurance brokers, agents and salesmen", and there being no protests; on mo~ion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Ordinance entitle "Ordinance amending Section 9107.10 of the San~a Ana Municipal Code to a/low real estate and insurance offices in the tp, Zone" In Re Hearing Abandon alley between 1st and 2nd Streets west of Lacy St. (Ray McCoy) was introdMced, considered and placed on file for second reading. This being She continued hearing on the abandonment and closing of an alley between First and Second Streets west of Lacy Street, a letter of explanation was read from Attorneys Elliott and Murray. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, the communication wa received and filed. It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried,that ~he hearing be continued until the next regular meeting in order that the Attorneys, on behalf of Ray McCoy may present a satisfactory solution to the abandonment of the alley which will be agreeable ~o the property owners.
