Blackwell <br />et ux <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />~lectrical cable <br />for Fire Alarm <br />System <br /> <br />Wilshire AVenues, from R-1 to R-2, R-3 and C-2 Districts, Gerald J. <br /> <br />Weiler, 1312 Wilshire Avenue, spokesman for approximately one hundred <br /> <br />persons, objected to the rezoning, for the reasons that there are <br />several shopping centers proposed or already available in the immediati <br />area and that the zone change would permit multiple dwellings surround~ <br />lng the area of the shopping center in an R-1 District. Douglas <br /> <br />Edwards, subdivider of the property, stated that the shopping center, <br /> <br />as proposed, is needed in the area im order to serve the numerous new <br /> <br />homes being built west a=d north of the area and would not be detri- <br /> <br />mental to the City. Several persons stated that traffic and taxes <br /> <br />would be increased on Bristol Street if the shopping .center is <br /> <br />permitted.
