<br />Burton P. Porter, Jr., 516 West Santa Clara Avenue, owner of property
<br />at 112 West Santa Clara Avenue,~protested the excessive charge of
<br />$25.00 for weed cleaning on the basis of the amount of work actually
<br />performed and stated that the rear portion of the lot was not cleared
<br />cf the weeds. He also questioned the fact that the City is acting as
<br />a collection agency and a City employee is making arrangements with
<br />the property owner for weed cleaning by a private contractor prior to
<br />the time fixed to have the weeds destroyed. J.A.McCullough, City
<br />emplSyee reported that about two and one-half hours of tractor work
<br />was performed and to the best of his knowledge two or three men worked
<br />on the property. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome
<br />and carried, the matter was referred to the Manager for investigation.
