On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the variance of Lenney Homes, Inc., granted to permit the erection of an 8 temporary directional sign at 501 Lyon Street, subject to certain conditions. . Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending denial of variance application of George R. and Eloise Hilliard for permissio~ to construct a d~uplex on property located at the northwest corner of Towner Street and Wilshire Avenue. Er. Hilliard appeared before the Council requesting that the variance application be reconsidered and stated that 'the erection of a duplex would improve the property. The applicant presented a petition signed by twenty-four persons in favor of the duplex. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the petition was received and filed. On motion of 'Councilma~ Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning commission was approved and the variance denied.
