WALLS AND FENCES <br /> <br />Walls and fences provide security and privacy in addition to screening such un- <br />sightly uses as storage yards, parking lots and industrial facilities. Walls <br />and fences can be utilized with landscaping %o buffer and enhance the appearance <br />of a development. <br /> <br />This section provides standards for the design and construction of walls and <br />fences. <br /> <br />General Standards <br /> <br />Ail peripheral screening in commercial, industrial and multi-family resi- <br />dential development should be constructed of decorative masonry block or <br />similar opaque material. The use of materials such as chain link fencing <br />is not appropriate. <br /> <br />2. Fencing in commercial, industrial and multi-family residential development, <br /> where screening is not specifically required, may be of decorative iron <br /> or similar material. Chain link fencing is not appropriate, except as approved <br /> by the Director of Planning & Development Services. <br /> <br />3. The colors, materials and appearance of walls and fences should complement <br /> the architecture of the buildings. <br /> <br />4. Walls located near street corners should be designed to maintain the <br /> visibility down the intersecting street. <br /> <br />Minimum Standards <br /> <br />With the exception of parking facilities for single-family homes and <br />duplexes, all parking facilities including driveways which abut any resi- <br />dential property shall be separated by a solid 6'" thick masonry wall not <br />less than 5 feet high, nor more than 6 feet high, measured on the parking <br />lot side. All portions of this required wall which are adjacent to the <br />required front yard of the residential property shall be 4 ~t. max. in height. <br /> <br />- 33 - <br /> <br /> <br />
