386 RESOLUTION 94-021

Facts in Support of the Findina

Noise studies shall be required for any residential units
proposed within the 65 Ldn contour.

The City shall review future proposals on a project-by-project
basis to ensure that the greatest distance between sensitive
noise sources and receptors would be provided.

Any residential sound barriers that are removed in conjunction
with the plan shall be replaced with sound attenuating
barriers at least six feet in height.

Barriers between noise sources and noise-sensitive areas shall
be constructed where feasible. Areas where this measure would
be most beneficial include residential units located behind
lots that are inadequate for building development and may be
developed as linear parks.

Where structures providing a sound barrier are removed and new
barriers cannot be constructed because of site design
considerations, sound insulation for future residential
structures shall be provided to meet the interior noise levels
of the California State Sound Insulation Standards.

Future development shall provide interior sound insulation of
new residences as an alternative method of alleviating noise
impacts along arterial streets~in built-up areas where it is
no longer possible to use berms and setbacks to reduce noise
impact.

Sound insulation shall be included in all new multi-family
residential construction as required by State law.

Cumulative traffic noise impacts remain
mitigation.

significant after

LAND USE

Sianificant Effect

Construction of future proposals and improvements would result in
minor displacement of households and businesses.

Findin~

Findin~ 1:

Changes or alterations have been required in, or
incorporated into, the project which avoid or
substantially lessen the significant environmental
effect identified in the Final EIR.

22
