WATER IW'~'.T. 0..0-~''~ Acting on the Manager's reCOmmendation, <br /> City..C~cil approved the application <br /> of Orange County Pump Company to drill <br />one water production well at ~006 %;. Westminster without setting precedent, <br />on motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried. <br /> <br />ORANGE C0~ST~ FAIR Report was presented regarding the <br /> invitation from the President of <br /> Orange County Fairgrounds Board of <br />Directors for Santa Ana City exhibit in the 1968 Fair. Councilmaa Markel <br />expressed his opinion that this might be a good project for the Steering <br />Committee for the Centennial Celebration to work on, and he and Councilman <br />Brooks were both of the opinion that a budget should he set up for this to <br />he done professionally. Mayor McMichael reported that the Chamber of Cc~nerce <br />had taken the matter under advisement a~d he thought Council shOUld wait to <br />get a recommendation back from the Chamber. Councilm-n Herrin was of the <br />opinion tha~ the business people and the citizens should promote the pr6Ject <br />rather than using public funds. Councilman Thurman stated this was a project <br />that would benefit everyone. The Clerk of the Council was instructed to <br />place the matter on the Agenda for April 1. <br /> <br />ROAD CONDITIO~ <br /> <br />Councilman Herrin requested the staff <br />to check into the condition of Santiago <br />Street, south of Washington. <br /> <br />HARBOR DISTRICT ~\\~ CounciLm-n Markel reported that he had <br /> been appointed a member of the new <br /> committee of seven men to study the <br />establishment of a county-wide district or department of Harbors, RecreatiOn <br />and Parks for a recommendation for Orange County League of Cities tomaketo <br />the Board of Supervisors, and that it has been requested that the Santa Aha <br />City Attorney act as legal advisor to this committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />the City Attorney was authorized to act as legal advisor to the committee. <br /> <br />RECESS At ~:35 P.M. the meeting was recessed <br /> to 7:30 P.M,, at which time it was <br /> reconvened with the same Councilmen <br />present. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation <br />was delivered hy the ReveremiDeanSmlth of TustinPresbyterianChurch. <br /> <br />EMPLOYEES' RESIDENCE ~ ~ 40 Report on residence requirement for <br /> City employees was considered. Quimu <br /> Moore, representing the Santa Ama City <br />Employees' Association, reported that the Employees' Association would like <br />the boundaries to be changed to include all of Orange County for all employees. <br /> <br />After some discussion by Couacil, a motion was made by Councilman Markel to <br />not make any change in the present residence requirement for City employees, <br />which motion was lost for lack of a second. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Carlson to expand the boundaries to include all <br />of Orange County for all City employees, which motion was lost for lack of <br />a second. <br /> <br />Following review of the map of present boundaries, it was moved by Councilman <br /> <br />CIT~ C~UNCIL ~01 <br /> <br />March 18, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
