Provide a molded case circuit breaker in common enclosure with magnetic starter <br />where indicated to form a combination-starter mechanism. Factory connect line side of <br />starter to s~vitch. Equip switch with fuses as indicated or as required for the load <br />controlled if not indicated. Provide dual element fuses for motor loads. Refer to <br />"Po~ver Disconnect Switches" in this Specification for requirements. <br /> <br />Provide enclosure for motor starters, motor switches, and combination starters unless <br />indicated or specified on mount within the enclosure specified for another product. <br /> <br />Motor starters shall be manufactured by General Electric, Westinghouse, Square D or <br />Allen Bradley. <br /> <br />2.16 <br /> <br /> A. <br /> <br />POWER DISCONNECT SWITCHES <br /> <br />Provide power disconnect switches having product construction requirements as <br />specified and/or indicated. Where not otherwise indicated, the following requirements <br />apply: <br /> <br />Enclosure: NEMA 1, surface type in dry locations. Use NEMA-3R for exterior <br />locations. <br /> <br />Ratings: Voltage, ampacity, horsepower and inductive ratings complying with <br />power source voltage and characteristics of load controlled. <br />Mechanism: Heavy-duty, quick-make, quick-break, with voidable interlock to <br />prevent opening enclosure in "ON" position. External lockable handle operation <br />with provision for not less than two padlocks. <br />Poles and fusing: Comply with load requirements. Provide fused switches <br />where fusing is indicated or required to comply with Code and equipment <br />requirements. Where fuses are installed, use dual-element fuses. <br /> <br />Provide power disconnect switches which shall be manufactured by Westinghouse, <br />General Electric, or Square D. <br /> <br />Provide the number of poles necessary to include a pole for each ungrounded <br />conductor. Equip switch with neutral terminal point where neutral is present.
