Councilmember-Requested Item Report <br />DATE <br />March 18, 2025 <br />TOPIC <br />SAUSD Graduate Profile <br />COUNCILMEMBER-REQUESTED ITEM TITLE <br />Discuss and consider directing the City Manager to prepare a resolution expressing City <br />support for the Santa Ana Unified School District Graduate Profile by formally <br />recognizing its importance and aligning city resources to reinforce its key attributes. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) developed the Graduate Profile in <br />collaboration with business leaders, parents, educators, and other community <br />stakeholders to prepare students for future job opportunities. The Graduate Profile was <br />developed through a process involving workshops, listening sessions, and feedback <br />from over 200 community members, students, and staff. Additionally, the Research and <br />Evaluation team took more than 30 hours of audio and about 1,000 of transcripts in <br />feedback, with additional input from student and staff sessions to help further refine the <br />Graduate profile and ensure it aligns with the needs and aspirations of those it serves. <br />The SAUSD Learning Model is designed to achieve the outcomes of the Graduate <br />Profile through personalized, authentic, competency -based, and inclusive approach to <br />education, focusing on six key attributes to equip students with the skills needed to <br />succeed in a rapidly changing world- <br />1 . Architect of Learning- Promoting lifelong learning with a spirit of inquiry and a <br />growth mindset to adapt to evolving job requirements; <br />2. Collaborative Leader- Preparing students to work effectively with others and <br />lead ethically in diverse and dynamic environments; <br />3. Global Innovator- Encouraging critical and creative thinking to solve complex <br />problems while being culturally aware in a global job market; <br />4. Empathetic Communicator- Ensuring students develop effective <br />communication skills to engage with various audiences and use different <br />communication tools; <br />5.
