During that time, the company was selected to provide services for both new
construction and to retrofit existing buildings housing departments including city hall, police,
public safety, public works, sanitation, senior center, social services and water.

I

The Pacific Coast Cabling team has installed an IBDN Gigabit System 1200 by NORDX/CDT to 720
outlets throughout the city's buildings. The solution was selected due to its value, scatability,
integration, security, reliability and performance. Of additional importance to the city was the
speed of installation, maintaining their data's integrity and ensuring there was little downtime.
The solution was installed to 600 workstation locations with two Category 5e for data and one
Category 3 split for two voice jacks. Five buildings were networked via 62.5 multimode fiber
with multiple ISDN circuits.

I
I
I
I

Originally, the sotution also included fiber transceivers by Allied Telesyn; ISDN terminal
adapters by ADTRAN; and Accelar 10/100 core switches by Nortel Networks. The Nortel
hardware was recently replaced by Pacific Coast Cabling's Network Division with state.of-the.
art Foundry core and edge switches.

The new solution supports a variety of applications including Lotus by IBM; Office by Microsoft;
telemetry systems; topology graphics; as well as general office functions.

As a NORDX/CDT Certified System Vendor, Pacific Coast Cabling was able to provide the IBDN
Structured Cabling System 25.Year System Warranty, which guarantees application and system
performance. We also are able to offer maintenance and support services, which will uphold
the warranty.

I
I
I
I

About City of Simi Valley
The City of Simi Valley, California, with a population of over 111,500, is the fourth largest of
Ventura County's 10 cities. It is located 40 miles northwest of the Los Angeles Civic Center, 400
miles south of San Francisco, 150 miles north of San Diego, and 350 miles south of Sacramento.
The city was incorporated in 1969 under the general taws of the State of California and
currently occupies an area of about 38.9 square miles. The city has been consistently rated by
the FBI as one of the safest cities in the United States.
