The City needed a sotution that would <br />increase bandwidth, scaLe, maintain their data's integrity and integrate with their existing <br />systems smoothLy and securely. The City aLso wanted a reliable high-performance sotution that <br />wouLd support eBusiness and CRM applications and be cost-efficient. The public safety building <br />supports approximately 1,000 employees, including the City's 213 sworn poLice officers; 132 <br />fire fighters and associated support personneL; plus civilian empLoyees. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Pacific Coast Cabling installed an IBDN System 4800LX Gigabit cabling solution by NORDX/CDT, <br />which included a fiber optic backbone, copper riser, horizontal voice and data cabLing, and an <br />IDF and MDF build-out. The soLution was seLected for its performance, headroom and <br />robustness. The solution is the first end-to'end, 300 MHz system and exceeded then-current <br />Category 6 proposals. Over 2300 outLets were connected. Testing and full documentation was <br />provided. <br /> <br />The new soLution supports generaL office applications, voice and data, proprietary software, <br />citywide, server-based information services and provides a way to disseminate pubLic <br />information quickly and efficiently. <br /> <br />The City is now considering Pacific Coast Cabling for their upcoming infrastructure projects and <br />a municipat fiber optic network currently being configured. As a certified NORDX/CDT installer, <br />Pacific Coast Cabling will be abte to offer a compLete 25-year product and applications <br />assurance warranty for this project. <br /> <br />About the City of Santa Monica <br />Santa Monica is comprised of 8.3 square miles with a balance of vibrant commercial districts and <br />neighboring residential communities. The City is situated on the westside of Los Angeles County, 16 <br />miles from downtown Los Angeles, where Pacific Coast Highway and Interstate Highway 10 meet. It <br />Is bordered by the City of Los Angeles on three sides and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Santa <br />Monica was founded in 1875 on the site of the land grant of Don Francisco Sepulveda, and <br />incorporated In 1886. According to the 2000 Census, Santa Monica's poputatlon is 84,084. AdditionaL <br />housing units added through June, 2002, have brought the current population to around 85,686. <br />
