CIVIC CENTER The appointment to <br />COMMISSION APPOINTEE replace Mr. Richard Kopel, <br /> whose term of office as <br /> a member of the Civic <br />Center Commission expires on May 4, 1974, was continued to the <br />next meeting, May 6, 1974, on the unanimously approved motion <br />of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Garthe. Mr. <br />Kopel has served two full terms as a Commissioner, and is <br />ineligible for re-appointment pursuant to the joint powers <br />agreement establishing the Commission. Council instructed <br />the Clerk to prepare a Certificate of Appreciation for <br />presentation to Mr. Kopel as soon as a new appointee has been <br />named. (CA 77.3) <br /> <br />BID CALL Council approved plans <br />PROJECT 8020 and specifications for <br />MAC ARTHUR PARK (PHASE I) Project 8020, Construction <br /> of MacArthur Park (Phase <br />I) at MacArthur Boulevard and Towner Street, and authorized <br />advertisement for bids, subject to modification of the <br />specifications to add two cul-de-sacs at the end of Towner <br />and Lowell Streets, on motion of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded <br />by Councilman Garthe, and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Dr. Victor Twaddell, 3734 South Towner Street, stated that the <br />homeowners would prefer dead-ending Towner and Lowell Streets, <br />and that the decision to dead-end had been made at a meeting <br />of the residents and representatives of the City Park Depart- <br />ment. (CA 89) <br /> <br />BOWERS MUSEUM The letter received <br />EDUCATION GALLERY April 10, 1974, from <br /> the Bowers Museum <br /> Foundation, requesting <br />permission to borrow $15,000 from the City, at no interest, <br />to construct the Education Gallery was referred to the Bowers <br />Museum Board and to staff for report and recommendation, on <br />motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, <br />and unanimously carried. (CA 85) <br /> <br />SALE OF TAX DEEDED PROPERTY Consent was given to <br /> sale of tax deeded <br /> property AP 2-050-13 <br /> and AP-14-203-46 as <br />described in Tax Collector's letter dated March 25, 1974, <br />on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans <br />and unanimously carried, and the Clerk was instructed to <br />notify the Tax Collector accordingly.
