<br />Effective July 1, 2007, the base salary of employees <br />covered by this Agreement shall be increased by the <br />greater of the following amounts: 1) that percentage <br />increase necessary, rounded to the nearest half-percent <br />(.5%), not to exceed nine (9) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 4.5%), to ensure that the top step base <br />salary of a Santa Ana Police Officer is higher than the <br />top step base salary for the position of police officer <br />for any other municipal police department in Orange <br />County or the position of deputy sheriff in the Orange <br />County Sheriff's Department, on that date; or 2) that <br />percentage increase in an across-the-board salary <br />adjustment provided to any other City bargaining unit <br />for fiscal year 2007-08. <br /> <br />B. Equity Adjustment. In addition to the across-the-board <br />salary adjustments identified in 4.3A above, effective <br />November 1, 2004, the salary rate range assigned to the <br />class of Forensic Specialist I shall be increased by <br />ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) . <br /> <br />C. The assignment of classes to salary rate ranges is <br />listed in Exhibit B, which is attached and made a part <br />hereof as though set forth herein. <br /> <br />D. Effective July 1, 2001, and in the event the City <br />incurs an employer cost, safety employees covered by <br />this Agreement will contribute up to 1.42% of their <br />salary toward the 3% at 50 retirement benefit. Due to <br />excessive employer contribution rates, effective July <br />1, 2004 and during the term of this Agreement, the <br />agreed upon employee contribution rate shall be the <br />maximum of 1.42%. <br /> <br />E. Effective July 1, 1998, employees will contribute one- <br />half percent (.5%) of their base salary plus pay <br />additives through payroll deduction to a fund <br />maintained by the Santa Ana Police Officers Association <br />for the purpose of providing retiree health insurance <br />premium reduction assistance. <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 1999, employees will contribute an <br />additional one-half percent (.5%) for a total of one <br />percent (1%) of their base salary plus pay additives <br />through payroll deduction to a fund maintained by the <br />Santa Ana Police Officers Association for the purpose <br />of providing retiree health insurance premium reduction <br />assistance. This payroll deduction for retiree health <br />insurance premium reduction assistance will continue <br />until such time as the parties may mutually agree to <br />end said deduction. <br /> <br />11 <br />
