<br />Police Sergeant III and shall be paid at a rate set thirty <br />(30) salary rate ranges (approximately 15%) above his or her <br />then current base monthly salary step in the Police Sergeant <br />class. The criteria for such designation shall be as <br />follows: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Completion of nine (9) years <br />experience and be eligible for <br />salary rate range of the Police <br /> <br />of municipal police <br />"E" step of the base <br />Sergeant class. <br /> <br />"Eligible" as defined only for Section 6.8 (A) means <br />that a Police Sergeant shall be considered for <br />advancement from Step "D" or "E" to Senior Police <br />Sergeant III upon the completion of the required length <br />of service as provided in Section 4.2 and Exhibit A of <br />this Agreement; the effective date of such increase <br />shall be on the first day of the month following <br />completion of such required length of service. <br /> <br />B. Completion (acquisition) of at least one hundred twenty <br />(120) educational/training unite; or possession of an <br />Associate of Arts academic degree from an accredited <br />college with an additional sixty (60) or more <br />educational/training units. <br /> <br />C. Approval of the Police Chief. <br /> <br />6.9 Career Development Program - Non-Sworn. Effective the first <br />day of the first full month following Council approval of <br />this Agreement, an incumbent in one of the classes <br />designated as "non-sworn" covered by this Agreement shall <br />earn an additional amount as follows: <br /> <br />A. Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree and five <br />(5) years' experience with the City of Santa Ana, said <br />employee will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary <br />rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. <br /> <br />B. Upon attainment of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree <br />and with five (5) years' experience with the City of <br />Santa Ana, said employee will be paid at a rate set an <br />additional (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) <br />for a total of 10 salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) <br />above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />If said employee obtains a Bachelor's Degree without <br />attaining an Associate in Arts Degree, he or she will <br />be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 5%) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. <br /> <br />26 <br />
