If compensatory time off is used in excess of <br />that available, such excess compensatory time off will first <br />be deducted from any available vacation benefits and <br />finally, deducted from the next scheduled wage or salary <br />payment. <br /> <br />8.7 No Effect on Other Benefits. Overtime work shall not apply <br />to the earning of employee benefits (retirement, holidays, <br />vacation accrual, sick leave accrual and employee insurance <br />benefits), toward the completion of probationary period or <br />to progression within a salary rate range. <br /> <br />8.8 Overtime Work to be Apportioned. To the extent that he is <br />reasonably able to do so, the Police Chief shall arrange <br />work programs to minimize overtime work; necessary overtime <br />work shall be apportioned among employees of like <br />classification and assignment. <br /> <br />8.9 Advance Compensation for Overtime. Time off with pay as <br />compensation for overtime may not be granted or taken in <br />advance of the overtime work for which the time off <br />compensates. Before compensatory time off with pay may be <br />taken, as herein provided, the overtime worked must have <br />been recorded on official payroll records at or about the <br />time the overtime work was performed. In the absence of such <br />recording, no compensatory time off with pay will be <br />permitted. <br /> <br />8.10 Compensation for Overtime: Exclusions. Overtime payor <br />comp time shall be allowed an employee for attendance at <br />conventions, conferences, seminars or the like, as long as <br />prior authorization is received. Overtime payor comp time <br />pay shall be permitted only for attendance which is ordered <br />on such employee's normal days off or for time beyond a <br />normal workday's duration. Please refer to Santa Ana Police <br />Department Training Bulletin 02-07 for details. <br /> <br />8.11 Call-Back-Duty. <br /> <br />A. Employees who are on call during their off-duty time <br />due to their assignment (i.e., Homicide Investigators, <br />Internal Affairs Sergeants, Crimes Against Persons <br />Sergeants, etc.) and are called back to work will be <br />paid for their travel time at the overtime rate from <br />the time they leave their home until the time they <br />return home, or until their regularly scheduled shift <br />begins.
