- Proiect Cnderstandin, and Scope -of -Work 1 -66
landscaping, electrical, and instrumentation drawings. Project management functions,
monthly meetings with the City during design and appropriate QA/QC methods
employed by the Metcalf & Eddy shall be incorporated into the overall scope of work.
_ Three (3) copies of the preliminary drawings and draft specifications will be submitted
to the City for review and comment. Following the City's review, Metcalf & Eddy
will meet up with the City to discuss comments or changes to the specifications and
drawings.
c) Geotechnical
Metcalf & Eddy will provide geotechnical services through Group Delta Consultants for
design of new pump building.
Our proposed scope of work is to provide geotechnical information for the design of the
proposed building, associated piping and pavement reconstruction, and will consist of
review of existing information, field exploration, laboratory testing, and providing
geotechnical parameters for design of foundations.
The site is located in a liquefaction hazard zone; therefore we propose one deep boring
with close sampling interval 3 feet (instead of 5 feet). Our field program will consist of
drilling and sampling two rotary wash borings (one to 60 feet and one to 25 feet).
Relatively undisturbed and bulk samples of representative soil layers will be obtained at
appropriate depth intervals (typically 3 to 5 feet).
Our laboratory - testing program will be aimed at evaluating the engineering and chemical
(corrosion) properties of the site soils. The exact scope of the laboratory program will
depend on the soil conditions encountered during our field exploration. However, for
planning purposes, we have considered the following types of tests:
• In Situ Moisture Content and Density,
• Grain Size Analyses,
• Atterberg Limits,
• Consolidation,
• R- Value,
• Soluble Sulfate Content, and pH.
The results of the field, laboratory, geologic, and engineering evaluations will be presented
in an appropriately illustrated report. The report will contain a project and site description,
discussions of the geologic and seismic setting, summary of engineering studies,
recommendations, and conclusions pertaining to the design and construction of the
proposed project, plus logs of the field explorations and laboratory test results.
Our recommendations will address the following:
• Earthwork criteria;
Company Confidential • Trade Secret and Proprietary Information of Metcalf & Eddy, Inc.
