— Work Plan 2 -96 <br />6.3 Bid Review /Ranking: M &E engineers will tabulate information received from contractors <br />bidding on the project. Bids will be checked to confirm compliance with the terms of the <br />specifications. Reference checks and bonding issues will be up to the City. M &E will prepare <br />and submit to the City a brief memorandum summarizing its bid review findings. <br />Task 7 Construction Support <br />Objectives: Provide engineering support to the City during the construction/equipment <br />installation phase of the project. <br />ZI Review Contractor Submittals: M &E engineers will check shop drawings and other data <br />submitted by contractors or vendors to insure compliance with specifications and project <br />objectives. City engineers will be informed of any deficiencies or problems evident in <br />contractor's submittals. It is anticipated that the City will appoint a member of its staff to lead the <br />construction effort and serve as point of contact with M &E and contractor(s). The checked shop <br />drawings will be submitted to the City appointee. Forty (40) submittals are anticipated. <br />7.2 Respond to Requests for Information (RFI): M &E engineers will respond to RFI (estimated <br />60 RFIs) and provide clarifications of the Plans and Specifications. A written summary of <br />responses will be presented to the City at the end of the bid period. <br />7.3 Prepare Design Change Orders: M &E engineers will evaluate change orders requested by <br />vendors /contractors. A memorandum outlining the proposed resolution of the change order <br />request will be submitted to the City engineer in charge of construction. <br />7.4 Periodic Site Visits: M &E engineers will perform periodic site visits during construction to <br />review progress and attend pre- construction and construction meetings. For estimating purposes <br />6 site visits are assumed. <br />7.5 Record Drawings (Optional): At the City's request, M &E engineers will incorporate into the <br />drawings any changes made in the field during the construction phase. Revisions will be <br />appropriately noted and dated, and a new set of drawings prepared. Five sets of the record <br />drawings will be submitted to the City. The cost for this task is not included in the base cost <br />estimation. <br />7.6 O &M Manuals (Optional): At the City's request, M &E engineers will prepare Operation <br />and Maintenance manuals for the refurbished pump station. Two manuals are anticipated, one for <br />the engines that drive the pumps and another one for the controls, alarms, and monitoring <br />equipment. The manuals will incorporate manufacturer information on engine operation and <br />maintenance. They will contain safety information, maintenance schedules, number and location <br />of spare parts, and simple schematics illustrating electrical wiring. One bound copy of each <br />manual will be submitted to the City, along with electronic files in a CD.
