— Work Plan 2 -96 6.3 Bid Review /Ranking: M &E engineers will tabulate information received from contractors bidding on the project. Bids will be checked to confirm compliance with the terms of the specifications. Reference checks and bonding issues will be up to the City. M &E will prepare and submit to the City a brief memorandum summarizing its bid review findings. Task 7 Construction Support Objectives: Provide engineering support to the City during the construction/equipment installation phase of the project. ZI Review Contractor Submittals: M &E engineers will check shop drawings and other data submitted by contractors or vendors to insure compliance with specifications and project objectives. City engineers will be informed of any deficiencies or problems evident in contractor's submittals. It is anticipated that the City will appoint a member of its staff to lead the construction effort and serve as point of contact with M &E and contractor(s). The checked shop drawings will be submitted to the City appointee. Forty (40) submittals are anticipated. 7.2 Respond to Requests for Information (RFI): M &E engineers will respond to RFI (estimated 60 RFIs) and provide clarifications of the Plans and Specifications. A written summary of responses will be presented to the City at the end of the bid period. 7.3 Prepare Design Change Orders: M &E engineers will evaluate change orders requested by vendors /contractors. A memorandum outlining the proposed resolution of the change order request will be submitted to the City engineer in charge of construction. 7.4 Periodic Site Visits: M &E engineers will perform periodic site visits during construction to review progress and attend pre- construction and construction meetings. For estimating purposes 6 site visits are assumed. 7.5 Record Drawings (Optional): At the City's request, M &E engineers will incorporate into the drawings any changes made in the field during the construction phase. Revisions will be appropriately noted and dated, and a new set of drawings prepared. Five sets of the record drawings will be submitted to the City. The cost for this task is not included in the base cost estimation. 7.6 O &M Manuals (Optional): At the City's request, M &E engineers will prepare Operation and Maintenance manuals for the refurbished pump station. Two manuals are anticipated, one for the engines that drive the pumps and another one for the controls, alarms, and monitoring equipment. The manuals will incorporate manufacturer information on engine operation and maintenance. They will contain safety information, maintenance schedules, number and location of spare parts, and simple schematics illustrating electrical wiring. One bound copy of each manual will be submitted to the City, along with electronic files in a CD. The cost for this task is not included in the base cost estimation.
