<br />ARTICLE IX <br /> <br />9.0 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />9.1 Legal Holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees of the City of <br />Santa Ana are as follows: <br /> <br />A. January 1st - New Year's Day <br /> <br />B. Third (3'd) Monday in January -In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday <br /> <br />C. Third (3rd) Monday in February - In observance of Presidents' Day <br /> <br />D. Last Monday in May -In commemoration of Memorial Day <br /> <br />E. July 4th - In observance of Independence Day <br /> <br />F. First (1st) Monday of September -In observance of Labor Day <br /> <br />G. November 11 th - In observance of V eteran's Day <br /> <br />H. Fourth (4th) Thursday in November -In observance of Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />1. The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />J. Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on Thursday, in <br />which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu thereof. <br /> <br />K. December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day <br /> <br />L. One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br />permission of the employee's supervisor. <br /> <br />M. Every day proclaimed by the Mayor ofthe City as a holiday for City employees. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br /> <br />9.2 Full-time permanent and probationary employees covered by this Agreement shall be entitled <br />to receive twelve (12) working days off during the calendar year in lieu of the holiday <br />benefits specified in Section 9.1, supra. Therefore, employees with alternative work <br />schedules shall be credited with 96 hours of Holiday Time at the beginning of every calendar <br />year in lieu of twelve (12) holidays in the year. <br /> <br />17 <br />
