Santa Ana Renaissance Specific Plan <br />Proposal Clarifications by Moule & Polyzoides <br />Item q: <br />Revise the scope of work to include more emphasis on mass transit. For example include <br />language that states that transit supportive housing options and streetscapes that <br />accommodate mass transit, such as feeder lines, monorail, etc will be studied. <br />Response: <br />our work typically examines such potential as part of the pre-charrette and charrette <br />phases of the project. During these critical portions of the project, we will examine the <br />location and service of such existing systems and the potential for expansion or <br />modification based on both the urban design and programmatic possibilities. Such <br />potential for enhancement of the transit system is a fundamental factor in determining the <br />appropriateness of intensity, scale and type of buildings and land uses, particularly <br />housing throughout the plan area. <br />At the end of the pre-charrette phase of work, Ne will summarize our findings on this <br />subject regarding the potential, the needs and the constraints to realizing the potential. <br />We will carry this forward to the discovery workshops for review and input by the <br />community and then to the pre-charrette study session for direction. At the charrette, we <br />will reflect this direction and proceed accordingly with incorporating transit -supportive <br />housing strategies into the project and plan. <br />30 January 2oo6 <br />Page 6 of 6 <br />
