Attachment B
Message Display System — A message system for the call center is crucial in times of disaster
when updates are happening quickly. In our environment updates for public information might
includes such things as road closures, decontamination sites, shelter openings, and food
distribution locations. A message display system allows for easy display of critical messaging to
all call handlers - easy view within the center. A projector will allow us to project these key
messages with support of a laptop onto a visually accessible screen in our call center.
Redundant Server — The primary server site for our WebInform database is in San Diego. Many
lessons have been learned about the value of a redundant server site far away from a service area
in the event of a catastrophic disaster occurs locally. Our primary site could go down due to local
intemet accessibility, equipment failures or actual damage to the server farm in San Diego. The
redundant servers site would allow for access via an alternative intemet web address if local
damage to our primary server occurs. If there is not intemet access at all the static disaster
database would be utilized in this instance. Basically the redundant site is security of access to
our entire database which will include the disaster database focus pages in the event of damage or
system failure locally. Accessing our data for the purpose of public information is critical to our
service delivery.
