Layleen Salgado

Santa Ana, CA 92703
Date: March S, 2025
Mayor Valerie AmezCua
22 Civic Center Plaza,
Santa. Ana, Ca 92701
Dear Mayor AmezYcua,
Hello, my name is Layleen. Salgado and I am one of' your residents that live in Santa Ana California.
I am writing; this letter to talk about the public safety around Santa. Ana. This topic to me is very important
because I feel that around the area of Santa. Ana public safety needs to be addressed and be taken care of.
I live in this city and I would love nay city to be a safe place and not be last on a list just because of the
area. It should have preventive strategies, properly be funded, and less gun violence.
Public safety should be a priority in all cities. I discovered with research that there can be prevention
strategies that have the potential to create the most gain in safety, we can expand safety by including
civilian experts. We can focus on neighborhood revitalization and get more opportunities to communities
that are not being invested in. Another vital key would be having a good relationship with those around
the community. This helps because policy makers or leaders could ask for help to identify the root of a
problem or policy that has failed and come u.►p with a solution to improve the safety of the community.
Around Santa Ana gun violence has been an issue. About a month ago there was a shootout between two
people in front of the liquor store on First and Newhope. It was during the weekday in the early mornings
when kids are walking to school. There should be more restrictions on gun carrying, stricter gun laws.
Lastly properly funding the community/city that way it can always be maintained. It can appeal to people
to want to live here.
I believe that if you are well informed of what is going around your community/city it can prosper and
grow. Having a good relationship with those people that live in that city. Letting them know that their
problems are being listened to and showing that you are willing to help..I know that being a mayor of a
large city is time consuming and difficult as well. Needless to say, public safety in Santa Ana needs to be
addressed. It should have preventive strategies, properly be funded, and less gun violence and we would
welcome all the help that we can get. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my lette►- addressing
my concerns.
Sincerely,
Layleen Salgado
