WITH ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT <br />COMMENTS <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Florence Leach invited the Council and residents to attend the Tri-City <br />Veterans Memorial Day Program at the Santa Ana Cemetery on May 28, <br />2001. <br />90.13. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />• Thanked Jim Gilliam for a tour of the Artists Village on May 5, 2001 <br />• Congratulated the Santa Ana Arts program for the successful kick- <br />off for the "Imagination Celebration" <br />Expressed disappointment that seven Harry Potter books were <br />distributed by the Library Commissioners to the Councilmembers <br />with 75% of the pages in the books missing. She stated that it was <br />not necessary to ruin the books in order to make the point that the <br />Library was in serious need of additional resources <br />• Asked the City Manager and the Council to address the Library <br />needs in the upcoming budget discussions <br />• Asked that City Hall change sources of energy by using generators <br />during the summer months <br />• Announced that the Technology Committee held its first meeting on <br />May 2, 2001 and invited residents to visit the City's updated Web <br />site and give feedback as to suggestions for further improvements <br />• Wished Santa Ana residents a Happy Mother's Day <br />Councilmember Christy <br />• Announced that she had represented Santa Ana at the successful <br />groundbreaking for the Multi -Cultural Center and the new Vietnam <br />Memorial in Westminster <br />• Asked that the City Council adjourn in the memory of Nora Mae <br />Clark, a long time resident of Santa Ana. <br />Mayor Pro-Tem McGuigan <br />• Announced that she had attended a Toyama Karate -do event at <br />Santa Ana College on May 6, 2001 and that this event was <br />supported by the Friends of Parks and Recreation <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 171 MAY 7, 2001 <br />
