COMMENTS <br />• Announced that Mater Dei High School was holding a Special <br />Olympics on May 12-13, 2001 <br />Councilmember Bist <br />• Noted that she was also shocked to see a torn up Harry Potter <br />book, but that the Library Commission made a good point in <br />bringing the issue to the attention of the City Council <br />• Noted that there were three Cable Board vacancies and asked that <br />the respective Councilmembers make their nominations quickly <br />• Congratulated everyone involved with the opening of the <br />Emmanuel House., a new facility in the French Park Neighborhood <br />for homeless persons with HIV <br />• Announced that the Historical Society was selling parts of old <br />houses on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at the Howe -Waffle House <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />• Congratulated the Mayor and all involved with the opening of the <br />Emmanuel House <br />• Announced that the Children's Hospital of Orange County has <br />produced a video entitled "Three Tragic Seconds" on child <br />drowning prevention available in English and Spanish <br />• Wished residents a Happy Mother's Day <br />Councilmember Franklin <br />• Noted that he represented the Council at a meeting of the Board of <br />Education commemorating the Workability Program which is well <br />known for its adult transition and job training programs <br />• Congratulated the Floral Park Neighborhood Association for its <br />successful home and garden tour <br />Mayor Pulido <br />• Thanked staff who were involved in the opening of the Emmanuel <br />House and noted that this project was an example of patience <br />triumphing <br />ADJOURNMENT — 8:23 p.m. - to May 21, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. in the Police Chiefs <br />Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, 41h Floor, Santa Ana, <br />California <br />In memory of Nora Mae Clark <br />Patricia E.
