COMMENTS <br />Mayor Pro Tern McGuioan <br />• Congratulated the Wilshire Square neighborhood for a very successful <br />summer concert on July 27, 2002 <br />• Noted that the opening of the Skateboard Park on August 3, 2002 was <br />a tremendous event and thanked all the individuals who made this park <br />a reality <br />Councilmember Bist <br />• Congratulated Pat McGuigan for her efforts with respect to the <br />Skateboard Park <br />• Noted that there were over 500 people in attendance at the Wilshire <br />Square Concert and that there were several other neighborhood <br />events being planned including concerts at Morrison Park on <br />September 21, Washington Park on October 5, and Floral Park on <br />August 31. <br />• Announced that she was working with Councilmember Solorio in the <br />planning of a Expo type event for Seniors on August 16, 2002 from 9 <br />A.M. to 2 P.M. <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />• Thanked Dr. Bennett and Sallie Ramirez for their leadership <br />- • Announced that the Mayor's State of the City address could be viewed <br />on Channel 3 <br />• Noted that the 1st lady of the State came to visit at the Delhi Center on <br />July 26, 2002 <br />• Announced that on August 3, 2002 there was an opening reception for <br />a photographic collection representing Latino life in the United States <br />and that there were between 300-400 in attendance <br />• Announced that the annual Zoofari sponsored by the Friends of the <br />Santa Ana Zoo will be held on August 24, 2002 from 5:30 P.M. to <br />midnight <br />Councilmember Franklin <br />• Noted that the selected book for the One City One Book program, "The <br />Pearl' is available at Martinez Bookstore <br />• Noted that a local real estate agent who was struck by a street <br />sweeper was told by City staff that he should take the matter to the <br />Small Claims Court . Councilmember Franklin asked staff to look into <br />this matter <br />• Thanked the Mayor for his State of the City address <br />Mayor Pulido <br />• Confirmed that President George Bush is coming to Santa Ana on <br />August 23, 2002 at the Bowers Museum <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 293 AUGUST 5, 2002 <br />
