<br />Sick Call Process <br />Inmates submits <br />sick call request <br /> <br />Category I: <br />Minor health problems which <br />appear not to pose a threat to life, limb, <br />vision or hearing and which are treatable <br />with first aid or over-the-counter medication. <br />This category also includes individuals <br />being monitored for blood pressure, <br />blood sugar, wound healing, etc. <br />Category II: <br />A significant health problem <br />which needs physician attention, <br />but which can be safely delayed <br />until the next NP/physician sick call <br />Category III: <br />A specific health problem <br />which demands prompt medical <br />attention to prevent further <br />compromise. <br />Sick call request reviewed <br />and triaged <br />by nursing staff <br />IF <br />IF THEN <br />Category I <br />THEN <br />IF Category II <br />Category III <br />Inmate evaluated and ~R <br />treatment completed <br />Inmate receives <br />medical clearance to <br />return to the general <br />population <br />Treated during <br />daily triage <br />Scheduled for next <br />NP/physician sick call <br />THEN Inmate treated <br />immediately by <br />appropriate medical staff <br />Inmate referred to <br />specialist or hospital for <br />further care as appropriate <br />All information will be <br />incorporated into the <br />inmate's health record <br />
