DTY COUNCIL <br />MEETNG DATE <br />ll <br />=7=�� <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL USE ONLY <br />ApprOved <br />As Recommended <br />See Minutes <br />Ord i n:ance on 1st Reading <br />E] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />Implementing Resolution <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />Continued to: <br />FILE NUMBER(S): <br />Jkb, H <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the Mayor and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Austin -Foust Associates, Inc. for the Five -City Traffic Study for <br />additional professional services in the amount of $3,750. <br />The Five -City Traffic Study is a cooperative effort between the <br />cities of Tustin, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Newport Beach and Santa Ana. <br />The area under study encompasses major employment centers in the <br />South Coast Metro Business Area of Orange County. The purpose of <br />the original study was to identify needed short-range <br />transportation improvements generated by development within the <br />study area and to provide a funding mechanism to implement the <br />improvements. <br />In June 1989, the Inter -City Liaison Committee retained the <br />services of Austin -Foust Associates, Inc. to conduct the traffic <br />analysis. On March 19, 1990, the City Council authorized the City <br />to join in the cooperative study, and Santa Ana's participation <br />required a contribution not to exceed $15,000. Austin -Foust <br />Associates, Inc. has completed all of the tasks identified in the <br />original scope of work. The work completed to date has included <br />development of traffic modeling capability , preparation of land <br />use data, traffic forecasts through 1995, and identification of <br />potential traffic improvements at selected intersection locations <br />in each of the five cities. <br />CS 9H3 <br />
