Orangewood Resource Center (ORC) <br />The ORC is a drop in center providing guidance, assistance and access to resources <br />needed to become independent, particularly in the areas of education.,employment, career <br />counseling, housing and healthcare. <br />• Served more than 460 youth seeking assistance in a total of over 3,700 visits. <br />Peer Mentor Program <br />Provides an opportunity for former foster youth to mentor teens currently placed at <br />Orangewood Children's Home, youth in foster care and those accessing services at the <br />ORC. <br />Held 16 sessions at the Home reaching approximately 400 teens, and facilitated <br />small-group sessions at 135 1LP workshops for over 590 teens. <br />Developed leadership skilas for 33 Peer Mentors through training sessions and an off- <br />site retreat. <br />Independent Living Program <br />Provides workshops, special events, and support services to foster youth, ages 16 to 21, to <br />help them prepare for emancipation. <br />Held 135 ILP workshops and 4 special events. <br />• Over 12,300 hours of instruction. were provided to over 590 teems. <br />Independent Living Coaches <br />Provides one-on-one guidance to foster youth. needing extra support pre- and post- <br />e~nanci.pation, beginning at age 16 and up to age 21. <br />• Provided. almost 4,000 hours of assistance to a total caseload of 244 youth. <br />Mentor Program <br />Our Mentor Program was developed to provide one-on-one adult interaction for the <br />increasing number of foster care youth in Orangewood programs. Mentors support and <br />encourage youth of all ages, from l~indergarten through college and beyond, and as they <br />transition out of the foster care system into a life on their own. <br />• Have 140 mentors. <br />• l Icld 28 training sessions. <br />M-Power (ages 5-14) <br />"hhis program. was created in March 2007, to introduce foster children to experiences with <br />a healthy adult, allowing the child to begin seeing life's possibilities at an earlier age. <br />• Doubled the sized of the program by matching an additional 23 children with <br />mentors, increasing the total to 43 children. <br />• 1-told 4 social. activities/events for youth and mentors. <br />• Provided tutoring for 4 youth. <br />Brides to Higher Education (high school students) <br />This program. was created to increase awareness of higher educational opportunities for <br />foster youth. High school age foster youth are matched with educational mentors and. <br />participate in a variety of activities to stimulate interest in higher education and to <br />increase graduation rates from high school. <br />• Matched 24 youth with mentors, increasing the total to 45 youth. <br />OCF/Foster Youth Liaison Project 11 <br />
