Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Mayor Amezcua,
As a concerned resident of Santa Ana, I'd like to express my disappointment in your lack of compassion,
thoughtful leadership and concern for our community during these unprecedented ICE raids and military
occupation of our city. We do not want unlimited support and city funds going to SAPD while you demonize
protestors and city council members that are righteously angry at what is happening. Instead of standing with
your community, denouncing the state sanctioned violence and working to protect our undocumented brothers
and sisters, you've advised us to "lay low" while ICE wreaks havoc on hard working families, and called our
protests "pure chaos and violence", which is completely untrue. We need more than that right now and you are
in a position of power to do the right thing. Because of your relationship with SAPD, and the fact that the police
union largely funded your election campaign, it is my strong belief that you have a conflict of interest in
protecting and representing your community, and I think you should resign from your position. If you refuse to
resign, please take the concerns of thousands of your constituents seriously and take meaningful action toward
regaining the trust of those you supposedly represent.
Thank you.
-Laura Wood
