Flores, Dora
From: Benjamin Rodriguez <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 1:56 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Public comment regarding ICE enforcement, local law enforcement, and local
leadership
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear City Council,
My name is Ben Rodriguez, and I live in the French Park neighborhood of Santa Ana. I'm writing to commend
Councilmembers Jesse Lopez, Benjamin Vazquez, and Johnathan Hernandez for their strong leadership during
the recent ICE raids, police violence against protesters, and the National Guard's presence. They stood with the
community and defended our rights while others decided to stay silent and complicit during the events.
I respectfully request the City of Santa Ana to:
1. Create a community alert system to notify residents of ICE activity, so families can stay informed and
safe.
2. Oppose the National Guard's presence in our city.
3. Protect First Amendment rights and demilitarize the Santa Ana Police Department, which used
excessive force against peaceful protesters.
4. Call for Mayor Valerie Amezcua's resignation due to her harmful statements, lack of leadership during
the crisis, and failure to support the community when it mattered most.
Santa Ana deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and protects its people.
Sincerely,
Ben Rodriguez
