Use caution when opening attachments or links.
To whom it may concern,

My name is Barney Richer, a local resident/homeowner living across the street from the Train station and would
like to express my support for the above referenced Amendment.

I believe that it is crucial for this to pass in order to create a safe and healthy environment for all residents of the
area as for far too long local businesses such as Bruce's Metals and the Madison/Ware Waste Facility have been
allowed to create unhealthy environments for all of us.

I am especially concerned with Madison Disposal as they are in my opinion the largest of the offenders. They
are in constant violation of the AQMD requirements by allowing dust and debris to leave their facility on a
daily basis causing dust and other particles to blanket the area for miles around their property. This includes the
freshly renovated Train Station that will now be covered in dust again after it was just painted. Worse than the
dust is the long term health issues that local long time residents have expressed everytime this topic comes up.

I believe they had a chance to properly install a misting system and have failed to do so over the last 20ish years
that they have been operating there. If you look at other professionally run waste sites that reside in high
density areas they are completely surrounded by misters running full time 24 hours a day while Madison often
has no mister but rather just a man with a garden hose. In addition they are taking over the newly paved
road/bike path by using public streets as a cue for their customers making access to the Train Station difficult
for residents and businesses residing to the South and West. What other businesses are allowed to use public
streets to form a line for their drive through business? At the very least they should have made an attempt to
cue trucks on their own property but again they have missed that opportunity to be a good neighbor.

Given Madison's failure to be a good neighbor and to evolve with the overall Transportation Hub Development
vision their lease should be canceled and they should be relocated regardless of how the vote for this
amendment turns out.

I can go on about the issues at Bruce Metals with drug addicts stripping stolen wire and back- flow devices on
the street in front of the property and openly doing drugs while kids from Garfield Elementary need to walk
past. However I won't drone on about this as I believe it has all been fairly well documented by others.

Please see the attached photos that I took under duress from the management of Madison as they post signs in
front of the property that no photos are allowed and make aggressive attempts to curtail it. I wonder why that
is? I think you all know the answer to that and I hope you will do the right thing.
Planning Commission 1 – 219 3/6/2025
