13 <br />N. Healthy Schools Act <br />1. All childcare and development center-based contractors are subject to the <br />requirements of the Healthy Schools Act (HSA) as specified in California <br />Education Code (EC) Sections 17608 to 17614. <br />2. For more information about the requirements of the HSA, contact the <br />Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), Integrated Pest Management <br />(IPM) via email at ccipmlist@cdpr.ca.gov, or visit the DPR School and <br />Childcare IPM website. <br />3. To comply with the provisions of the HSA, childcare and development center - <br />based contractors shall, among other requirements: <br />a. Identify a school designee. <br />Choose a center employee who will make sure the requirements of the <br />Healthy Schools Act (HSA) are met when pesticides are used at your <br />center. <br />b. Develop an IPM plan <br />Create an IPM plan using the DPR IPM Plan template available on the <br />DPR School and Childcare IPM website; or get a self-drafted center IPM <br />plan approved by DPR. <br />c. Provide annual written notification. <br />Send parents, guardians, and staff a written notification of pesticides you <br />expect to apply at your center during the year. <br />d. Establish individual notification registry. <br />Establish a registry for all interested parents, guardians, and staff to sign <br />up and receive notifications of individual pesticide applications. <br />e. Post warning signs <br />Post signs where you will apply pesticides. <br />f. Keep Records <br />Keep records of pesticide applications made by center staff and pest <br />management contractors for at least four years. <br />g. Send pesticide use reports to DPR <br />Send pesticide use reports for pesticide applications made by center <br />employees to DPR at least once per year.
