10.2 Bereavement Leave. <br /> A. An employee shall be granted up to five (5) days leave without loss of pay in case <br /> of death of a member of the employee's immediate family. Such leave is designated <br /> as bereavement leave. "Immediate family" as used in this section is limited to: <br /> 1. Any member of the employee's household related by blood or marriage; <br /> 2. A parent, parent-in-law, spouse, child, sibling, domestic partner, <br /> grandparent, or grandchild of the employee, regardless of residence; <br /> 3. Any other relative of the employee by blood or by marriage where it can be <br /> established by the employee that as a result of such relative's death, the <br /> employee's presence is required to handle funeral arrangements and/or <br /> matters of estate. <br /> B. Whenever an employee is required to travel one way more than five hundred(500) <br /> miles to attend to the death of a member of the employee's immediate family, an <br /> employee may use up to eighteen (18) hours of additional leave charged to their <br /> Personal Necessity Leave balance when authorized by the Executive Director. <br /> 10.3 Military Leave. <br /> A. Proof of Orders and Reinstatements. An employee shall be granted military leave <br /> if they furnish the Executive Director of Human Resources satisfactory proof of <br /> their order to report for duty. Upon return and upon showing of proof of actual <br /> service pursuant to such orders, they will be reinstated as provided in Section 9-143 <br /> of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> B. Temporar. Members of the reserve forces of the United States, or the National <br /> Guard, granted temporary leave when ordered to duty, in accordance with the <br /> Military and Veterans Code,will be granted leave with pay not to exceed thirty(30) <br /> calendar days in each calendar year after one (1)year of service with the City upon <br /> presenting satisfactory proof of orders to and from such temporary active duties. <br /> 10.4 Jury Duty and Witness Leave. When an on-duty employee is called to serve as a juror or <br /> non-party witness in any court action, they shall be allowed to leave for the time actually <br /> required for such service without loss of pay. Each on-duty employee called for such <br /> service shall present to their Executive Director for examination the subpoena calling them <br /> to such service and shall pay into the City Treasury the fees collected for such service,with <br /> the exception of reimbursement for transportation expenses, if any. <br />
