employees vacation leave in order to provide them with a break in <br /> their regular work schedule and this purpose will be used as a <br /> guide in the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br /> Section 2 . Regular Vacation Period. <br /> A. Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full-time <br /> permanent or probationary employee at the rate of 15 working days <br /> for each completed year of service, accrued at the rate of 10 <br /> working hours for each completed month of service . Employees hired <br /> after August 9, 1979 shall be granted regular vacation at the rate <br /> of 10 working days for each of his or her first and second <br /> completed year of service, accrued at the rate of 6 2/3 hours for <br /> each completed month of service. Thereafter, all such employees <br /> shall be granted regular vacation at the rate of 15 working days <br /> for each completed year of services, accrued at the rate of 10 <br /> working hours for each completed month of service. <br /> B . An employee who has completed less than one year' s <br /> service during the calendar year shall receive a proportionate <br /> fraction in accordance with the amount of service to his or her <br /> credit during the year; provided, however, no employee shall be <br /> entitled to, or receive payment for, any vacation until he or she <br /> has completed six (6) months of continuous service . <br /> C. On or after the first (1st) day of the month following <br /> completion of six (6) months of continuous full-time service, an <br /> employee may be allowed to take all or a proportionate fraction of <br /> his or her earned vacation, subject to scheduling approval of the <br /> employee' s supervisor. <br /> D. Absence on sick leave for a period in excess of <br /> fifteen (15) consecutive calendar days shall not be considered as <br /> service for vacation accrual purposes . <br /> E . Computation of Regular Vacation: <br /> 1 . In computing regular vacation, each municipal <br /> holiday that occurs during the vacation, and that falls on a day <br /> which the employee would have worked had he or she not been on <br /> vacation, shall be deducted from the computation so that one (1) <br /> additional day of regular vacation shall be allowed to the employee <br /> unless departmental practice provides some other manner of <br /> compensating for municipal holidays . Should an employee be confined <br /> to a hospital for sickness or injury while on authorized vacation, <br /> each full day of such confinement, when confirmed by a physician' s <br /> statement and approval of the Chief of Police, may be deducted from <br /> the computation of vacation expended and charged against the <br /> employee' s accumulated sick leave. <br /> 2 . No employee may carry over from one calendar year <br /> to the next, more than the equivalent of two (2) regular vacation <br /> 22 <br />
