A. Completion of seven (7) years of municipal police experience and <br /> attainment of HE?? step of the base salary rate range for the Police Sergeant <br /> classification. <br /> B. Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) educational <br /> and/or training units; or possession of an Associate of Arts academic degree <br /> from an accredited college with an additional thirty (30) or more education or <br /> training units. <br /> C. Approval of the Chief of Police. <br /> Section Q. Senior Police Sergeant III. Effective January 1, 198k, any <br /> officer holding the rank of Police Sergeant in the Santa Ana Police <br /> Department, regardless of duty assignment, who fulfills the requirements <br /> established in this section shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant <br /> III and shall be paid at a rate set twenty-five (25) salary rate ranges <br /> (12.5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. The criteria <br /> for such designation shall be as follows: <br /> A. Completion of nine (9) years of municipal police experience and <br /> attainment of "E" step of the base salary rate range for the Police Sergeant <br /> classification. <br /> B. Completion (acquisition) of at least one hundred twenty (120) <br /> educational/training units; or possession of an Associate of Arts academic <br /> degree from an accredited college with an additional sixty (60) or more <br /> educational/training units. <br /> C. Approval of the Chief of Police. <br /> Section 10. Administrative Guidelines. An individual authorized an <br /> increase in pay as a result of any provision of the Police Career Development <br /> Program set out in this Article cannot also receive any additional pay <br /> differential set forth in Article V of this Agreement except for bilingual <br /> pay. <br /> ARTICLE VIl-TRAINING AND a ATIONAL A r ANCE PROGRAM <br /> Section 1 . Purpose. <br /> A. To encourage the employees of the City of Santa Ana to take <br /> college courses and special training courses which will better enable them to <br /> perform their present duties and prepare them for increased responsibilities. <br /> B. To provide financial assistance to eligible employees for <br /> education and training. <br /> C. To establish eligibility requirements, conditions and <br /> procedures whereby such assistance may be provided. <br /> Section 2. Eligibility. <br /> A. Applications for tuition reimbursement will be considered only <br /> from full-time, permanent City employees who have completed probation. <br /> 10 <br />
