(5) Approval of the Chief of Police. The number of such <br /> designations as C.S.I. shall be no larger than the requirements of the <br /> department as determined by the Chief of Police. <br /> Section S, Senior Police Officer (Terminal). Any police officer <br /> designated as a Senior Police Officer prior to July 1 , 1968, under provisions <br /> of the original career development program and still assigned such designation <br /> by the Chief of Police, shall be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate <br /> ranges (5%) over his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br /> As of the effective date of this Agreement, any such police officer so <br /> designated shall continue in said designation until eligible for and assigned <br /> to a higher level designation described below or until such time as he or she <br /> shall be removed from the designation of Senior Police Officer by action of <br /> the Chief of Police; however, no further assignment of police personnel shall <br /> be made to the Senior Police Officer designation established by Resolution of <br /> Council in October, 1964. <br /> Section 4. Senior Police Offiper I. Effective January 1 , 1984, any <br /> sworn, safety-member police officer, regardless of duty assignment, who <br /> fulfills the requirements established in this section shall be designated as a <br /> Senior Police Officer I and shall be paid at a rate set fifteen (15) salary <br /> rate ranges (7.5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br /> The criteria for such designation shall be as follows: <br /> A. Completion of five (5) years of municipal police experience and <br /> attainment of the "E" step of the base salary rate range for the Patrolman <br /> classification. <br /> B. Completion (acquisition) of at least sixty (60) educational <br /> and/or training units. <br /> C. Approval of the Chief of Police. <br /> Seeti 5. Senior Poke Officer II. Any sworn, safety-member police <br /> officer who fulfills the requirements established in this section shall be <br /> designated as a Senior Police Officer II and shall be eligible to receive one <br /> of the career incentive pay differentials set forth in "B" below: <br /> A. The criteria for such designation shall be as follows: <br /> 1 . Completion of seven (7) years of municipal police <br /> experience and attainment of the 11E" Step of the base salary rate for the <br /> Police Officer classification. <br /> 2. Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) <br /> educational/training units; or possession of an Associate of Arts degree from <br /> an accredited college with an additional fifteen (15) or more <br /> educational/training units. <br /> 3. Approval of the Chief of Police. <br /> B. Pay Differentials: A Senior Police Officer II will be paid a <br /> career incentive pay differential at a rate set above his or her then current <br /> 8 <br />
