Section 3. Computation of Forty (40) Hour Workweek. <br /> In computing a regular workday and/or workweek, paid leave <br /> for holidays, sickness, vaction, and other time off with pay <br /> shall be credited towards the total. <br /> Section 4. Compensation for Overtime. <br /> A. With respect to sworn, "safety" police per- <br /> sonnel, the first thirty-two (32) hours of overtime worked <br /> by any of the employees covered by this Agreement shall be <br /> compensated at the rate of one and. one-half (1 1/2) times <br /> the employee' s regular rate of pay, in paid compensatory <br /> time off. No sworn, "safety" employee covered by this <br /> Agreement shall be entitled to receive a cash payment for <br /> overtime work until he 'or she 'shall have accumulated more <br /> than forty-eight (48) hours of overtime and unused compen- <br /> satory time off benefits. <br /> B. With respect to non-sworn, "miscellaneous" <br /> members of the Association: <br /> (1) The preferable method by which overtime shall be <br /> compensated is by monetary payment, at one and one-half <br /> (1 1/2) times the employee' s regular rate of pay. <br /> (2) Should the Chief of Police determine that the best <br /> interests of the City will be 'served thereby, he or his <br /> designee may permit an employee to be compensated for over- <br /> time work by taking paid compensatory time off at the rate <br /> of one and one-half - (1 1/2) times the employee' s regular <br /> rate of pay. <br /> (3) Eligible employees may convert time and one-half <br /> (T 1/2) paid overtime to time and one-half (T 1/2) compen- <br /> satory time off, with the prior permission of the employee ' s <br /> supervisor and subject to the operational needs of the <br /> department. _ This conversion shall be limited to the accumu- <br /> lation of sixty (60) hours of earned, unused compensatory <br /> time off benefits. <br /> (4) Time off with pay to compensate for overtime <br /> worked may be accumulated, .subject also to limitations <br /> herein elsewhere provided, to a maximum of sixty (60) hours. <br /> Section 5. 'Increme'ntal Usage. Time off with pay to <br /> compensate for overtime: worked may be taken in increments as <br /> small as one-half (1/2) hour. <br /> -Section '6. Excess Usage. If compensatory time off is <br /> used in excess of that available such excess compensatory <br /> -15- <br />
