B. With respect to non-sworn , "miscellaneous" member <br /> employees , up to a maximum of two dollars ($2. 00 ) per month per <br /> employee; <br /> Any contribution necessary to maintain benefits under <br /> any long-term disability insurance plan provided employees by the <br /> City in excess of the amounts set forth as above shall be borne <br /> by the employees. <br /> Section 5 . Life Insurance. The City shall maintain in <br /> effect for the term of this agreement its existing life insurance <br /> plans covering employees covered by this Agreement on the same <br /> basis as its plans are offered to employees as of June 30 , 1979 . <br /> Section 6 . The City shall retain the right to change <br /> health , dental , long-term disability and life insurance carriers , <br /> administer the insurance benefits provided thereunder, and select <br /> and/or change any excess or supplemental insurance carriers as a <br /> part of any self-insurance plan during the term of this Agreement, <br /> provided that employees covered by this Agreement continue to <br /> receive the same or equivalent benefits. <br /> ARTICLE XIII - RETIREMENT <br /> Section 1. The terms of the existing contract between the <br /> City and P.E. R. S. governing the retirement benefits of employees <br /> covered by this Agreement are incorporated by reference herein. <br /> The City shall continue to make contributions to P.E.R. S. in <br /> accordance with its contract with P.E.R. S. for employees covered <br /> by said contract. <br /> Section 2. To the extent permitted by Federal and State law <br /> and the City Charter, the City shall have the right to provide a <br /> reitrement plan for future employees. The plan may provide dif- <br /> ferent benefits then those available to existing employees at a <br /> lower cost the the City, which benefits shall equal those pre- <br /> vailing for equally compensated employees in private industry in <br /> Orange County. Said new plan may be provided to employees who <br /> will be hired after the plan is instituted, provided that prior <br /> thereto, the City Council shall: <br /> (a) Designate a committee of the City Council to study <br /> retirement plans which shall provide benefits equal to those <br /> prevailing for equally compensated employees in private industry <br /> in Orange County; <br /> (b) Select a plan which meets the cirteria set forth in <br /> paragraph ( a) above; and <br /> (c) Give notice of the plan to the Association and its <br /> members and cause the designated representatives of the Council <br /> to explain the plan to and receive input from the Association <br /> -29- <br />
