equal two-thirds (2/3) of one (1) "semester" unit . <br /> 7 . 4 Procedures . <br /> A. An employee who desires to seek tuition <br /> reimbursement under the provisions of this Article <br /> must complete an Application for Training and <br /> Educational Assistance form and submit it to the <br /> Police Chief . <br /> B . The Police Chief will recommend approval or <br /> disapproval and forward the application to the <br /> Personnel Services Department . It is advisable <br /> that the applicant accomplish the procedures so far <br /> described prior to the inception of the course or <br /> disbursement of personal funds in order to <br /> ascertain the eligibility of the intended course of <br /> instruction for reimbursement under the provisions <br /> of this policy. <br /> C. Within three months after he/she has completed the <br /> course and received his/her final grade, the <br /> employee must include official verification of <br /> his/her final grade with appropriate receipts for <br /> tuition and textbook costs to the Personnel <br /> Services Department . These will be returned to the <br /> employee upon request . Applications not submitted <br /> to the Personnel Services Department within three <br /> months following completion of the course become <br /> void. <br /> D. Upon receipt of the required documentation, the <br /> Personnel Services Department will determine <br /> whether the completed course of instruction is <br /> compatible with the provisions of Sections 2 and 3 <br /> of this Article . If found to be compatible, the <br /> Personnel Services Department will compute the <br /> amount of reimbursement, authenticate the <br /> application and forward it to the Police Chief . <br /> E . The Police Chief will then authorize the Finance <br /> and Management Services Department to reimburse the <br /> employee the approved amount out of the budget of <br /> the Police Department . <br /> 23 <br />
