ARTICLE IX <br /> 9 . 0 HOLIDAYS <br /> 9 . 1 Legal holidays observed by full-time permanent and <br /> probationary employees covered by this Agreement are as <br /> follows : <br /> • January 1st - New Year' s Day. <br /> • Third (3rd) Monday in January - In observance <br /> of Martin Luther King Jr . ' s Birthday. <br /> • Third (3rd) Monday in February - In memory of <br /> George Washington' s Birthday. <br /> • Last Monday in May - In commemoration of <br /> Memorial Day. <br /> • July 4th - In observance of Independence Day. <br /> • First (1st) Monday in September - In <br /> observance of Labor Day. <br /> • November 11th - In observance of Veteran' s <br /> Day. <br /> • Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In <br /> observance of Thanksgiving Day. <br /> • The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving <br /> Day. <br /> • December 25th - In observance of Christmas <br /> Day. <br /> • Last working day before Christmas Day, unless <br /> Christmas falls on a Thursday, in which <br /> instance, the day following Christmas Day <br /> shall be observed in lieu thereof . <br /> • One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday <br /> selected by the employee with prior permission <br /> of the employee' s supervisor. <br /> • Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City <br /> as a holiday for City employees . <br /> Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on <br /> the following Monday. Any holiday which falls on a <br /> Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br /> Holiday. <br /> 9 . 2 Full-time, permanent and probationary employees covered <br /> by this agreement shall be entitled to receive 96 hours <br /> off during the calendar year in lieu of the twelve (12) <br /> holidays specified in Section 1, supra. The 96 hours <br /> will be added to the employee' s "Time Off Bank, " as <br /> described in Article X, Section 6 at the beginning of the <br /> calendar year. <br /> Said "time off" may be taken at any time during the <br /> calendar year with prior permission of the employee' s <br /> 30 <br />
