ARTICLE III <br /> 3 . 0 ATTENDANCE, WORKDAY AND WORKWEEK <br /> 3 . 1 Attendance . Employees covered by this Agreement shall be <br /> in attendance at their work location during hours <br /> prescribed by the Police Chief or his designee (s) and <br /> shall not absent themselves during prescribed hours <br /> without approval of the Chief of Police or his <br /> designee (s) . Any alternative work schedule is at the <br /> Police Chief' s discretion. <br /> 3 . 2 3/12 - 4/12 Work Schedule . Effective February 1, 1994 , <br /> the City implemented a 3/12 - 4/12 Plan for Sworn <br /> Officers assigned to regular patrol on rotating shifts <br /> covering 24 hours and for Detention Officers and <br /> Detention Supervisors assigned to the jail . <br /> 3 . 3 ' Definitions of Terms For Employees Assigned To 5/8 Work <br /> Schedule . <br /> A. Workday. For sworn and non-sworn employees not . <br /> assigned to 3/12 - 4/12 work schedule, or another <br /> alternative work schedule, eight (8) hours shall <br /> constitute a regular workday, except for sworn <br /> officers on designated assignments, for whom the <br /> workday will constitute nine (9) hours . Employees <br /> assigned to 8-1/2 hours will receive one-half (1/2) <br /> hour of unpaid lunch and employees assigned to nine <br /> (9) hours will receive one (1) hour of unpaid <br /> lunch. The unpaid lunch time for sworn officers <br /> (Code 7 time) shall not be considered overtime and <br /> is not otherwise compensated except as provided in <br /> the Settlement Agreement executed by the parties <br /> hereto on November 21, 1977 . <br /> B . Workweek. The minimum workweek for all employees <br /> covered by this Section shall consist of forty (40) <br /> hours . <br /> C. Workweek Schedule During Schedule Changes . The <br /> City agrees to continue the following policy when <br /> scheduling days off during shift, assignment or <br /> other schedule changes : except in cases of <br /> emergency or other situations requiring days off , <br /> the City may schedule employees impacted by a <br /> shift, work assignment or other schedule change, to <br /> a schedule no more and no less than five (5) <br /> regular and normal workdays, as defined in <br /> subsection A above, during any calendar week; <br /> however, and except in cases of emergency, no <br /> employee shall be scheduled to work more than five <br /> 4 <br />
