RCA Nos. 2004--01 through 2004--08 <br />IRC Nos. 2004-01 thro�gh 2004-08 <br />e'ebruary 5, 2004 <br />Page 4 <br />noted in this structure include wood lap siding; broadly <br />portioned wood framed windows; and horizontal emphasis apparent <br />in headers and porch supports. Additionally, the one and a half <br />story structure is eligible to be categorized as Landmark for its <br />unique architectural significance as illustrated by its side <br />gabled roof with shaped rafter tails and braces exposed at the <br />eaves; a double dormer trimmed with decorative bargeboard; broad <br />tripartite wi0ows; and a recessed porch defined by an arched <br />beam supporte(41by paneled and tapered posts. <br />Key Category <br />Based on the results of research, the structures listed below meet the <br />criteria to be placed in the Key category as contained in Section 30--2.2 <br />of the Santa Ana Municipal Code. The code criteria for Key designation <br />are as follows: <br />a. The building, landmark or district has a distinctive <br />architectural style and quality; or <br />b. The buildi g, landmark or district is characteristic of a <br />significant period in the history of the City of Santa Ana; or <br />C. The building, landmark or district is associated with a <br />significant person or event in the City of Santa Ana. <br />The properties included in this request are as follows: <br />• <br />1905 North Valencia Street, F.B. Elliot House. The F.B. Elliot <br />House, built pirca 1912, qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties as a representative example of <br />Bung low/ Craftman style architecture. The structure is eligible <br />to be placed within the Key category for its distinctive <br />architectural I style and quality as illustrated by its side gabled <br />roof with rafters exposed at the eaves; sheathing in shingle <br />courses of alternating heights; a recessed porch spanning most of <br />the facade, featuring a brick wall and pedestals; massive brick <br />piers marking the end of the porch; and a series of casement <br />windows featured in the front facade. <br />
