Thorough knowledge of the construction, <br />establishment, and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and <br />bunkers. Knowledge of procedures for planting and culture of turfgrasses used on golf courses; the planting, <br />cultivating, and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various <br />fertilizers and soil conditioners; pest control methods and materials; drainage methods; and watering practices <br />and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls. Knowledge of construction and <br />maintenance of the maintenance facility, shelters, fences, bridges, golf cart paths, service roads, parking lots, <br />ponds, and streams. <br />Assistant Golf Course Superintendent <br />The Golf Course Assistant Superintendent directly assist the Superintendent in all duties. Responsible for daily <br />operations with the direction of the Superintendent, duties include assisting in planning, scheduling, and <br />supervising the maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and associated support <br />facilities. <br />Minimum Qualifications — A degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant, soil sciences or equivalent knowledge is <br />desired. Working knowledge of <br />light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. <br />Golf Course Mechanic <br />The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for servicing and repairing maintenance and construction equipment <br />and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems. <br />Minimum Qualifications — Ability to schedule and supervise work to achieve the most efficient utilization of <br />employees and equipment. Working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment <br />and automotive apparatus. Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of <br />various types of mechanical repairs. Knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion <br />engines and of mowers. <br />Golf Course Courseworkers <br />The Golf Course Courseworker operates powered equipment when mowing the golf course, putting greens, <br />aprons, and tees.
