Becerra, Alexis
From: Janella Simpson <
Sent: Monday, February 23, 2026 4:43 PM
To: Vicente.Sarmiento@ocgov.com
Cc: eComment
Subject: Orange County Animal Shelter
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
I volunteer at the Orange County Animal Shelter(OCAC), and I am an advocate for the animals. What is the problem in
adhering to the Strategic Plan? It shouldn't even be up for discussion. Just do it! It was commissioned to advise as to
best practices but now willingly ignored with lots of excuses. Why is Orange County still supporting a KILL shelter? We
should be one of the most advanced counties in California, but the fact is that we are NOT. People in Santa Ana should
be able to be HUMAINE. But the policies of OCAC seem to be that you are more interested in running a business and
making the OCAC look good, rather than a humaine sanctuary for animals and giving the people of the community the
ability to be kind, caring and compassionate to the animals of the community. To reject animals (and I am particularly
interested in the felines) from intake because they are not sick or injured....they are homeless, or over 2 pounds......is still
CRUEL! Don't you see that? So how come the OCAC is allowed to be cruel to animals and the people who are just
trying to give them a place to be cared for? Let them in and give them a chance! Please do the right thing. If we all do
the right thing, it can work.
Janella Simpson
Resident of Sant Ana
(
1
