Dear Mayor and Members of the Santa Ana City Council, My name is Mario Cuevas, and I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Newport Bay Conservancy. I am unavailible to be there in person and I respectfully request the opportunity to comment on an item not on the agenda at the Santa Ana City Council Meeting on March 3, 2026. Representing the Newport Bay Conservancy, I would like to invite the City of Santa Ana to participate in Earth Day at the Bay,taking place on April 18, 2026.This annual community event celebrates environmental stewardship, education, and conservation, and provides meaningful opportunities for families, students, and residents to connect with nature. Additionally, I will be requesting the City's support for the Newport Bay Conservancy's proposal to the Orange County Transportation Authority(OCTA)to implement a one-day pilot shuttle program.This pilot would provide transportation for students, families, and community members from Santa Ana to Earth Day at the Bay, helping to reduce barriers to access and promote equitable participation in environmental programming. Attached to this request are two event flyers, one in English and one in Spanish,for your review and distribution. Thank you for your consideration.
