SB 1 generates revenue from gas taxes to <br /> fund the maintenance, repair, and safety improvements on state highways, local streets, <br /> and roads. The State Controller deposits various portions of these funds into RMRA <br /> and a percentage of these funds are apportioned by formula to eligible cities and <br /> counties pursuant to Street and Highways Code (SHC) Section 2032(h). The formula <br /> for distribution of RMRA funds is based on a city's population relative to the total <br /> population of all cities in the state of California. <br /> Each year, estimates of RMRA funds are prepared by the California Department of <br /> Finance and published by the League of California Cities.
