instructional time with participants at their school to maintain an ongoing relationship with each <br />student by the staff. <br />The services of the various WIA elements will be offered to participants throughout the yearlong <br />program. Regarding frequency of meetings, participants will meet at a minimum on a bi-monthly <br />basis with program staff at their home school sites but not during the participant's instructional day. <br />The adult mentor component is a collaborative effort with Career Beginnings of Orange County 3: <br />(CBOC) and will meet on a monthly basis usually on the third Wednesday evening of the month <br />throughout the regular school year. Since not all Success Bound! student will participate in this adult <br />mentoring program and since the CBOC program no longer has a yearlong follow-up element, this <br />adult mentor component has not been identified as a formal component of the District's 2010/11 WIA <br />In-School youth application. Individual mentor/mentee meetings will also occur on an individualized <br />basis. For those Success Bound! participants who enroll in an ROP course, their training will last from " <br />135 to 360 hours depending upon the course in which they are enrolled. 4t <br />After their program exit Success Bound! participants will continue to receive services ranging from <br />annual college loan applications, job referrals, guidance counseling, the required program follow-up <br />surveys, citizenship guidance, etc., to assistance with income tax preparation. The continuing contact <br />with many former Success Bound! participants has been a hallmark of the program since it's inception <br />and the ROP staff implementing this program will continue to emphasize this component of the total <br />program. <br />PROGRAM GOALS/OBJECTIVES and PERFORMANCE LEVELS <br />As stated in the Executive Summary portion, the Success Bound! program has a target of thirty (30) <br />participants attending secondary programs with in the Santa Ana Unified School District who will be <br />high school seniors during the 2010/11 school year. The specific WIA program elements directly <br />supported by the funding requested in this RFP response are: <br />? educational activities leading to high school graduation, <br />? paid/unpaid work experiences <br />? leadership development, <br />? 12 months + follow-up services, and <br />? comprehensive guidance & counseling. <br />Participants will have access to four other services through other existing District programs: <br />? alternative secondary school services, <br />? occupational skill training, <br />? supportive services (transportation), and <br />? adult mentoring <br />Participants would also be able to investigate and access similar services from other providers in the <br />Youth Service Provider Network. <br />M_ <br />Participation in specific provided services will be based on both the assessed needs of potential O <br />participants, their expressed interests and the relationship of these to WIA goals. It is a goal of the <br />program to enroll all 30 participants by the end of October, 2010. Several key elements of the overall <br />Success Bound! program involve early advisement, academic assessment with the TABS (or a similar c-- <br />instrument) and enrollment. Individual participant's previous scholastic history and test scores from F, <br />their SAUSD student records on the SchoolMax system will also govern which academic tutorial O <br />activities they should pursue. This information plus that developed in each participant's ISS folders <br />will guide and inform program staff in the management and monitoring of the services provided to the _ <br />thirty Success Bound! participants.
