SANTA ANA WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD <br />SAWC POLICY BULLETIN <br />Supportive Services <br />Original Policy: 7/1/2001 Number: SA07 Revised: 4112 <br />Replaces: 3112 Update <br />1. Purpose: To establish guidelines for the issuance of supportive services to participants, <br />who are identified in need of such services, in order to assure the successful completion of <br />program. This policy supersedes all previous policies. <br />II. Reference: <br />• WIA Regulations: 663.800, 663.805 <br />• WIA Law Section 129:(c)(1)(G), 134(e)(2) <br />III. Updates: <br />Policy bulletin updates which are in bold and italic. <br />IV. Procedures: <br />A. ELIGIBILITY <br />1. To request and receive supportive services, an individual must be WIA eligible and <br />enrolled with the Santa Ana WORK Center. <br />2. Supportive services will be made available to participants while enrolled in WIA <br />services. <br />3. Provision of supportive services is not an entitlement. <br />B. AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND ASSESSMENT OF NEED: <br />1. Supportive services are delivered contingent upon availability of funds, the need of the <br />participant, and given on a first come, first serve basis. <br />2. Assessment of need will be determined by Case Manager and reviewed by <br />management. Case manager is responsible for explaining supportive services and <br />program requirements for continuation of supportive services. <br />3. Supportive services are available to participants who: <br />a. Have no other way to meet needs and have expressed this need to the case manager. <br />b. Other funding sources and resources should be explored and utilized before <br />requesting WIA funded supportive services (i.e., Social Services). Exploration <br />Exhibit A 17
